Three Minnesota Republican legislators are due to testify about fraud cases in their state at a GOP-led congressional committee in Washington on Wednesday.
The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is hosting the first of two scheduled hearings on social services fraud in Minnesota.
The hearing's witnesses include Minnesota state Reps. Kristin Robbins, Walter Hudson and Marion Rarick. The three are members of a Minnesota House committee on fraud prevention and state agency oversight.
All three have been highly critical of Gov. Tim Walz's response to fraud and have been hammering the issue publicly over the last few years.
They'll likely get a warm welcome from the Republican-led congressional committee. It's also an opportunity to boost the issue on a national stage.
Next month, the same committee has called for Walz and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, both Democrats, to testify about their roles in combatting fraud. Neither Ellison nor Walz have committed to appearing, but aides to both say the possibility remains under discussion.
