It’s one endorsement, Michael, how much could it cost?

Your daily Minnesota news roundup starts … NOW.

A recent spate of violence in the Twin Cities and suburbs have led to the announcement of a new collaboration between local and federal authorities. More than 40 law enforcement officials, including Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Superintendent Drew Evans and Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges, gathered at a news conference on Monday to pledge resources and broad cooperation in tamping down youth violence.

As reported by our own Cleo Krejci last month, “ghost students” are a growing problem at two-year institutions and now those issues are threatening the livelihoods of individuals whose identities are being stolen to enroll at these schools.

Angus Meat Market in Maplewood is closing after 63 years in business. Always sad to lose a small business, but good news, the space is being taken over by Grundhofer’s Old-Fashion Meats, who will open a fifth location in the storefront. Says here Grundhofer’s is the home of the world famous gummy bear … um, brat. Avert your eyes, children.

There’s only one commercial cranberry farm in Minnesota and it’s in Palisade, where they recently held a public viewing of the cranberry harvest and fulfilled the most deeply held wish of one Mcke Gisi, reports KAXE.

“When we met,” said her husband, Jack Pease, “she told me her childhood dream was always to marry a cranberry farmer because then she could swim through the cranberry bog and eat cranberries freely.”

The reading scores at Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School on the Leech Lake Reservation had declined steadily since the COVID pandemic, so the school took a chance on a highly structured curriculum called Direct Instruction, and now it’s paying dividends. In two years of Direct Instruction, the students have made almost four years of progress.

At last, someone has taken up the challenge of ranking Heggie’s pizzas. Personally, I really think you can’t go wrong with the pepperoni and sausage, but I definitely need to try the Six Pack (pepperoni, sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon, mozzarella, cheddar) seeing as it has been deemed “touched by the hand of God.”

And finally in your Minnesota news roundup: We try not to have a lot of hard and fast rules here at The Glean, but one of them is that if Mike Lindell is in the news, we will let you know. After initially refusing to concede and failing to pay for a recount, the pillow magnate has endorsed Rep. Lisa Demuth for governor — kind of.

“We need a different output. Would I have liked to have been that person? Absolutely. Do I think I have the best solutions to all of that? Absolutely.”

Don’t worry that he’s too focused on something other than himself because he’s preparing a fresh round of lawsuits looking into “anomalies” he feels cost him the GOP nod. Quick reminder: an investigation by the DOJ into voting in the last three elections served up 10 indictments. Lindell lost his primary by 45,000 votes.
