“The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families conducted compliance checks on nine child care centers embroiled in controversy after a viral video accused them of fraud, finding the centers were ‘operating as expected,’” MPR News reports. “The nine child care facilities were captured in a viral video made by right-wing content creator Nick Shirley, who visited several Somali-owned centers in an attempt to expose widespread fraud. With the increased scrutiny on Minnesota’s social service providers, “some housing coordinators and assistance programs backed by state dollars have found themselves audited repeatedly, if not cut off from state funding, as the state cracks down on eye-popping social service frauds,” according to the Pioneer Press.
