From David Griswold at KARE 11: “(Saturday night) snow created some slick driving conditions across the state, resulting in nearly 200 crashes and dozens of vehicles slipping off the roads.
“The Minnesota State Patrol said it responded to 188 crashes statewide from noon Saturday to 8:30 a.m. Sunday. … Officials say 25 of the crashes resulted in injuries.”
WCCO’s Reg Chapman reports: “A security guard is recovering in the hospital after getting shot inside an Aldi store Friday night. Officers responded to the shooting at the grocery store, located at 1311 E. Franklin Ave. in Minneapolis just after 8 p.m. Police say the security guard confronted a man inside the store. At one point during the confrontation, the security guard attempted to use mace. The man then fired several shots, which struck the guard.”
Kirsti Marohn at MPR News reports: “Agriculture officials next month will begin mandatory testing of milk from Minnesota’s dairy farms for highly pathogenic avian influenza.
“The U.S. Department of Agriculture ordered national testing of raw milk in a federal order in December, beginning with six states.”
Jay Kolls at KSTP reports: “Minnesota recreational marijuana dispensaries were supposed to open sometime in early 2025, but … there will likely be significant delays in the process. … (A) recent court ruling stopped the issuance of licenses for people who wish to sell and grow marijuana for the adult recreational market until state lawmakers approve rules and policies for the program — which could take months.”
From the Star Tribune: The Minnesota Frost skated to a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Victoire in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. They drew a crowd of 14,018, the largest in U.S. history for a women’s pro hockey game.
