Fridley Public Schools canceled classes for a second day Thursday after reports of multiple online threats and the arrest of a 13-year-old boy.
District officials said a threat against Fridley schools on Snapchat was reported Tuesday. Officials canceled after-school activities that day, and also canceled classes and activities on Wednesday as police investigated. Officials posted an update Wednesday evening canceling classes and activities for Thursday as well.
In a statement posted on social media, Fridley police said they arrested a 13-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon. But since then, more threats have been reported on various social media platforms.
“Detectives are currently investigating every lead received,” police said in the statement. “The investigation is ongoing in collaboration with local, state and federal authorities.”
Officials have not shared details about the nature of the threats.
Schools in Fridley were already scheduled to be closed Friday and Monday. Classes are scheduled to resume Tuesday.
